The Dysfunctional Bladder

The Great British Study Day 2017 was held at Abbey Hill Golf Centre, Two Mile Ash, Milton Keynes, MK8 8AA.

After reviewing some of the topics that were asked for by the delegates at the 2016 Event it was decided to centre the day around The Dysfunctional Bladder.

A dysfunctional bladder is a common problem and can be caused by many things, though it is most commonly neurological damage. The bladder can become flaccid or spastic and can present with symptoms such as overflow incontinence, frequency of micturition, urge incontinence and urinary retention.

Risk of serious complications including recurrent infections, sepsis, vesicoureteral reflux is high. Diagnosis through imaging and cystoscopy or urodynamic testing is required and management may involve catheterisation, measures to trigger the bladder or surgery.

Topics included:

  • The Dysfunctional Bladder and LUTS
  • Erectile Dysfunction
  • Continence Issues after Prostatectomy
  • Sepsis the Unseen Killer!

The event had an excellent turn out and, if you attended, we would welcome any comments you may have.
